Omar Derouich, Anfara (Desglaç – Release), coll. Intermezzo, ed. Emboscall, 2005. Anfara is the first collection of poems by the Amazigh poet, Omar Derouich, published in Catalonia. It contains nine amazigh poems preceded by their translation into Catalan. It is therefore a bilingual collection which has symbolic value given that it reunites two languages which are in a minority in their own countries, although Catalan has been lucky enough to find itself in an easy position in a Spanish democracy. This is not yet the case of Amazigh in Morocco and in North Africa. There are poems in this collection which are obviously about Amazigh identity and others which describe the reality of Moroccan society. And of course, the eternal themes of love and hope are also present! The Amazigh poems are witten in both Latin and Tifinagh characters. The translations into Catalan have been done by Josep Maria Jarque, a lecturer in therapeutic pedagogy. The collection of poems has an afterword written in Catalan by Jodri Badiellea, the poet's other friend. This afterword has been translated in turn into Amazigh by Omar Derouich himself. This Amazigh-Catalan collective work is the second of its kind and follows the collection of Jordi Badiella's poems called El te a Merzuga – Atay g Merzuga – Tea in Merzuga.. Omar Derouich is a teacher in Tizi-n-Imnayen (Goulmima). Josep Maria Jarque is a lecturer in therapeutic pedagogy and Jordi Badiella is a Catalan teacher in Terrassa, Barcelona.
