Tawargit
d imik (A Dream and More) tells the story of a well-read man
who is employed by the Amazigh-speaking inhabitants of a Moroccan
village. As he is anxious to carry out the religious functions of
a village sage in a satisfactory manner, Ssi Brahinm Tacenyart decides
to preach in the language spoken by the local population. He has
consequently to deal with both the reluctance of his colleagues
and the violent reaction of the authorities caused by his having
overstepped the mark.

Imula
n tmektit "Shades of the Past" is the title of Afulay's novel written
in Amazigh. The shadows, gathered from meanderings and questions,
offer needed places in which memories are formed. Through fortuitous
and regular encounters a story unravels where no step is taken to
avoid being prey to one's own sorrow. There are shadows which reveal
their soul, their deepest essence but also our own tatoos.
In these encounters the shadow becomes a new memory, therefore "shades
of the past". |

Textes
berbères des Guedmioua et Goundafa, presented by Harry Stroomer,
a Dutch researcher, gathers texts collected during the French protectorate
by F. Corjon, teacher, and then school director, and by two officers
of native Affairs, J.-M. Franchi and J. Eugène. These texts from the
tashelhit dialect, written in prose or in verse were collected from
native speakers of the tribes of Gadmiwa and Gundafa in the Moroccan
High-Atlas, close to Marrakesh. These documents deal with the history
of the area or describe festivities, social practices or local rituals.
In this way they give a general aspect of the oral literature and
of the social and intellectual life of this area. |
