The ten stories grouped together in this book were translated from Berber. They were collected in the N'tifa region (High Atlas, Morocco) but are well-known in all the surrounding mountains. They were narrated, or rather chanted, by Abdellah Khallouk's mother.

An Anthology of Tashelhiyt Berber Folktales The texts selected for this anthology were gathered and subsequently published over a period of some hundred and fifty years (de Slane, Stumme, Roux…) These transcriptions varied linguistically to a considerable degree. The aim of this present book is to present these folktales in a modernized version which is phonologically and morphologically adequate and consistent, and includes a full translation in English.

The first half is a collection of five illustrated tales. Each tale is followed by a number of grammar exercises and a lexicon. The child or student, under the guidance of a parent or teacher, will find in the second half a guide to the initiation to the use of words, grammar and notation.

Merveilles du RifMerveilles du Rif published by Mohammed El Ayyoubi at the M. Th. Houtsma Stichting Editions gathers 15 tales in the Amazigh language (tarifit), transcribed in the latin alphabet and translated in French. These tales from the Rifan oral tradition have been narrated by Fatima n Mubehrur, born in 1910 in the village of the Ayt Adifa in the territory of the Ayt Waryaghel tribe (Province of El Hoceima).
